Pachychoroid disorders







Pachychoroid means thick choroid.


Also has been defined as permanent dilatation of choroidal vessels expecially of larger choroidal vessels with attenuation of both choriocapillaries and middle choroidal Hattler's layer of vessels.  

It comprises of various disorders :
  1. Pachychoroid pigment epitheliopathy 
  2. Pachychoroid neovasculopathy 
  3. Central serous chorioretinopathy 
  4. Polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy




Most of these disorders most common seen in Asian population more than Caucasians and reason for central visual loss. 
Exact pathophysiology not yet known for this condition, but now a days many conditions have been associated with pachychoroid spectrum.
